GO Weekend events will take place from Wednesday, August 21st through Monday, August 26th, 2024. Events marked with an asterisk are mandatory for incoming freshmen. The 2024 GO Weekend schedule can be found below. Every event listed is for ALL current APSU students unless specifically marked for Freshmen or by invite.

Wednesday,
August 21

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Help A Gov

  • Need help tying up loose ends? Come to the Ellington Building lobby for assistance with fee payments, registration, financial aid, and more.

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m./7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.- Housing Move-In

  • Check your APSU email or reach out to the Housing Office for your move-in assignment!

5:00 - 7:00 p.m.- Yard games with the College Ministries at APSU (Eriksson Quad)

  • Open to all students! We'll have free snow cones, games like volleyball, 9-square, kickball, and a great way to meet new friends!

7:00 - 8:00 p.m.- Snow Cone Social @ the Spirit Rock

8:00 - 10:00 p.m.- Movie on the Lawn

  • Join us for a movie at the Housing Quad in front of the Terrace!

August 22

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Help A Gov

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m./7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.- Housing Move-In

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.- Grillin' with the Govs (MUC Plaza)

2:00-4:00 p.m.- Govs Island (Eriksson Quad)

  • Take a break from moving in and join the Office of Admissions and your favorite orientation leaders with inflatables, Sugar Boogar Sno Cones, yard games, music, and of course our first major giveaway..... the infamous new APSU sunglasses.

7:00 - 10:00 p.m.- Govs on the GO: The City Forum and Shopping Extravaganza

  • Charter buses will pick up students in front of the Ellington Building and take students to The City Forum for an evening of go karts, bowling, laser tag, putt-putt, and arcade games! Free pizza will be available for all students attending the event courtesy of our great friends at The City Forum.
  • Sango Walmart will be the next location our buses will drop off and pick up from. You will have the opportunity to get any last minute supplies for your residence hall, school supplies, or just some snacks to have on hand. The wonderful team at the Sango Walmart will be in APSU shirts to assist you with anything you may be trying to find.

8:00 - 8:45 a.m.- Peayceful Morning Yoga (Browning Lawn)

  • Join us for a relaxing morning practicing yoga with Foy Fitness staff on the lawn by the spirit rock! There will be a limited number of mats available for use, but please bring your own if you have one.

  • Let's GO For a Bike Ride (Foy Fitness & Recreation Center)
    • Join Govs Outdoors for a bike ride around APSU campus and part of the Clarksville Greenway. Please wear athletic shoes and make considerations for sun protection and warm weather. 
  • Let's GO Gnome Painting (Art + Design)
    • Come paint with the Department of Art + Design. You will make a beginner-level painting that will amaze your friends and brighten up your dorm. No experience necessary, just a willingness to have fun and a love of all things gnome. All supplies provided for this one hour painting experience.
  • APSU TV Expo (MUC Plaza)
    • Lights, camera, ACTION! Visit the APSU-TV Broadcasting Van to get a taste of television broadcasting and student media opportunities on campus.
  • Let's Talk About Art (The New Gallery)
    • Join Michael Dickins, the New Gallery Director and head of the University Permanent Art Collection for a tour of artwork on campus. The tour will start at the New Gallery in the Art+Design building.

2:45 - 3:45 p.m.- First-Gen Stduent Pinning & Alumni Panel (MUC 307)

4:00 - 5:00 p.m.- Legacy Freshman Pinning Ceremony & Reception

  • This is an invitation only event for legacy students. Please check your email for instructions and information

5:00 - 6:00 p.m.- New Student Convocation (Dunn Center)*

  • Chapter One begins! Be welcomed to Austin Peay by University President Mike Licari and start your journey as a Gov! This is a mandatory event for all incoming freshmen and you are asked to wear the red "Official Gov" shirt you were given at orientation. 

6:00 - 8:00 p.m.- GovsFest (Fortera Stadium)

  • Take the opportunity to learn about all of the different organizations and clubs that APSU has to offer. Learn all the chants and cheers that you will need to know to support your Govs on the field. 

8:00 - 11:00 p.m.- GlowChella (Intramural Field)

  • THE GLOW UP IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN! Come join us for GLOWCHELLA, a music festival-themed interactive dance party featuring glow paint and accessories. Dress for mess and get ready to have the time of your life!

August 24

10:00 - 11:00 a.m.- University Success- Let's Get Started! (Dunn Center)*

  • Meet with your UNIV/HON/PELP 1000 class and your Peer Leader for the first time. Here we will give you the last minute tips and tricks before starting off your semester on Monday. This is your last chance to take care of business by turning in any last minute documents. This event is mandatory for all incoming freshmen! 

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Help A Gov

11:00 - 1:00 p.m.- College Connect Lunches - Free food available around campus (various)

  • Join your Dean and academic college a for free food and a chance to mingle with other students and faculty from your department!

10:00-12:00 p.m.- United Worship Service (MUC Ballroom)

  • Join the campus ministries for a time of worship after a busy weekend and learn more about what each organization has to offer! We will have free lunch available in the MUC Plaza after!

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.- Lunch with LifePoint Church (MUC Plaza)

12:00 - 2:00 p.m.:

  • Govs on the GO: Float Trip with Outdoor Rec (Foy Recreation Center)
  • Govs on the GO: Bus Tour of Clarksville (MUC Plaza)

5:00 - 7:30 p.m.- Welcome Back Bash (MUC Plaza)

9:00 - 11:00 p.m.- PeayCake Breakfast (Food Hall)

  • Come for the pancakes and a full breakfast spread made by APSU's President Mike Licari and our Senior Leadership Team, and stay for the trivia with your favorite Director of Orientation, Jandro, who is bringing all the good vibes!
Monday, August 26

8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.- Peayple in the Community Day of Service

  • Join your peers in serving the campus community and the Clarksville Community. There will be no on-ground classes on August 26th to encourage all students to participate in the Day of Service.
