Institutional Culture Committee

Diversity Strategic Plan 2016-2021

Membership: 6 Faculty, one from each academic college and one from the Library (who have served and will continue to serve on the college diversity committees), 2 students, 2 staff senate representative, 2 student affairs representatives, and 1 community member, the Chief of Institutional Culture will serve as the permanent Chair. 

Terms of Service: Faculty members will serve a two-year term and can serve two consecutive terms. When consecutive terms have been served, a three-year break must occur before serving again. All other members will serve a one-year term, except for the Chief of Institutional Culture. 

Description: The committee is responsible for helping to foster a values-based and purpose-driven campus community that strives to create a culture of belonging, where every person feels valued and has an opportunity to add value. The committee will promote a culture of belonging as outlined by the Office of Institutional Culture that is in line with the strategic plan, campus-wide leadership expectations, and service standards that help increase participation, productivity, and positive outcomes for all campus members. The committee will promote these principles through various sponsored programs and initiatives. Finally, the committee will be responsible for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Breakfast, the annual Inclusion Award, the monthly Appreciation and Belonging Hour on campus, as well as supporting ways to help incorporate diversity and inclusion in substantive and significant ways through teaching, learning, research, and campus-wide engagement.
