Dr. Carlin teaches courses in National Security Studies and Criminal Justice courses in Terrorism and Research Methods. She graduated with her Ph.D. in Political Science from UT-Knoxville while teaching political science and public administration courses at Eastern Illinois University. Dr. Carlin is originally from East Tennessee.

Dr. Carlin’s research interests include Active/Mass Shooting Incidents, Peace Mediation, Domestic and Global Security, Eastern Europe, Public Policy, and Nuclear Security.
